To crash or not to crash

I found that the Search function on an iPhone 4s with the latest iOS works, I found that my old gen 1 iPad that cant run the latest iOS does crash. Could that be the issue?

Even so, I had a great romp yesterday playing a cartridge and the new version ran great for that part.
